Stuck between bold and beige? Try this.

If your decor feels a little off and you can’t quite figure out why—it might be a style balance issue.

One trick I swear by (especially in the summer months) is this:

👉 One Bold, Two Calm

It’s a simple formula to help you mix contrast and softness—without going overboard. Here’s how to use it:

🌀 Your bold doesn’t have to be bright. It just needs to stand out.
A deep green tile, a sculptural black lamp, or even an unexpected art piece can be your anchor. (That herringbone tile? Total scene-stealer.)

🌿 Your calm can be texture or tone. Not everything has to be beige.
Think rattan, raw wood, or soft green paint—they ground a space without making it feel flat.

🔁 Repeat your bold strategically.
Echo the color or shape once or twice in nearby rooms or accents to keep it cohesive, not chaotic.

🧺 Layer in woven textures to soften without dulling.
Natural wood, baskets, rope, or rattan keep things breezy and coastal without turning your room into a theme park.

Don’t match everything—coordinate instead.
Skip the full matching set. Try pairing warm neutrals with cool accents, or modern shapes with organic materials.

🚫 If it already feels busy, remove something before adding more.
Let your bold moments breathe. Negative space is your friend.

Ready to see this in action?

And feel free to save the reminders below—it's a good one to screenshot or pin!

P.S. Do you naturally lean bold or calm? Hit reply and let me know—I love hearing how you're mixing it!

Sherwin Williams SW7567 | HEX #DCD2C3

A breezy, sun-warmed neutral that plays well with soft coastal tones.

What's In, What's Out

IN – Bold + calm working together (not fighting for attention)
OUT – Too much of one thing (yes, even all-white everything can fall flat)

Current Obsession

Using beach towels as throw blankets on the porch. Yes, really. Stripes + soft texture = summer win.
